Have you ever been stuck in a Learning Module & can’t progress because Blackboard thinks you haven’t completed something? The solution may be as simple as clicking the progress circle next to an item to indicate that you’ve completed it!
You can review your per-item progress from the Course Content page. Each item’s progress status is conveyed by a circle to the left of each item. The circle’s appearance changes based on your progress:
- Empty when you haven’t accessed the item yet
- Partially filled when you’ve opened the item or accessed the item through Ally
- Green checkmark when you’ve marked the item as complete or made a submission
- Locked when the item has not yet been reached in sequential order within a “Forced-Sequence” Learning Module
You can manually mark certain items as “complete” by clicking on their progress circles, but only after first interacting with them. Those items include: Documents, uploaded files, or hyperlink items that lead outside of the course.
Please note: Journals and Discussions must be manually marked as complete if they are not located inside of a Forced-Sequence Learning Module. And, if Documents are too long to fit on the screen when opened, you may need to scroll all the way down to the bottom of it in order for it to be considered “complete”.
In the following illustration, we’ll “complete” a hyperlink item which must first be opened before it can be marked complete:
Some items are automatically marked as complete when you submit an attempt for them, such as: Assignments, Tests, & Graded LTI content.
Learning Module Progress
When you open a Learning Module, it will show a progress bar which conveys your current progress within that module. Within that progress bar, completed items are illustrated in green, started items are in black, and unopened items are in gray. You can hover your cursor over each of these colors in the progress bar to see their associated metrics.
When all items in a folder or module are completed, the entire folder or module is automatically marked as complete.
